(The p arm and q arm refer to the short and long arm, respectively, based on the centromere.) Although the factors that cause have not yet been completely identified, multiple studies have shown that abnormalities at certain chromosomal locations, such as chromosome 7q, chromosome 1p, chromosome 3q, chromosome 16p, and chromosome 15q, are associated with the expression of ASD symptoms. ![]() Several recent studies have shown that a child who has a sibling with ASD is 60 times more likely to develop autism compared to the general prevalence rate. ![]()
